here's a sincere question to all of you teaching (or who have taught) in Europe...
Where, in your experience, were/are people the most friendly?
Where have you had the most fun?
while this question may sound silly, i'd really like to hear your honest answers
peace,

Ive taught in the Czech Republic and Spain and enjoyed both places immensely.
In my experience most Czechs werent what Id call open and gregarious, but once I got to know a person, he or she was usually very warm and friendly. Ive been gone almost five years now, and I am still in touch with former students and friends. My experience with Spaniards has been that they are often very open and friendly from the beginning.
Ive had lots of fun in both places. Both countries have interesting histories / cultures and lots of sights to see. Prague is a very happening city and in terms of recreation, the Czech Republic has lots of opportunities, especially for winter sports. On the other hand, Spain has beaches, mountains, several cities to choose from and, for the most part, excellent weather. Those are some of the reasons I moved! However, I go back to the Czech Republic for a visit whenever I can and always enjoy myself.
I have heard from many people that Italy is a great place to live, too. |

and hungary! and hungary!
okay, people here arent huggin in the streets, but budapest is a fun town to go to. i dont live there though, i live way down south...and to be honest my town is a bit dead, as some of the smaller ones are. but i finish work on thursdays and i can go to bpest or zagreb or wherever, its easy to enjoy yourself here. i have friends in eger, nyiregyhaza, etc and they say their towns are great fun. in some of the smaller towns an english teacher still has a sort fo celebrity status, which is definitely good. |
