Hi Everyone,

does anyone know whether alternates get upgraded to short-list candidates according to their rank on "the list" as well as when they submit the reply letter?

i tried calling the Embassy but the coordinator is not there. yes i should have woken up earlier, and no i can't wait until 3pm to find out. so if anyone has any info that'd be great, thanks, cheryl

I was an alternate, too. I'm currently in my third year on JET, about to finish. The alternate list, as I know it, is random. Where are you, by chance?

well as it turns out, i was just upgraded just as i was getting used to the idea of staying in good old Ottawa to get married to my wonderful boyfriend. Ah well, guess we can wait another year for all that!

Where are u located in Japan? i'm hoping to go to Miyazaki...

Hi,
Another question to add to the growing list! When is the deadline for sending in your response form? I ask because I STILL haven't heard from JET, although when I rang they said they'd sent me notification ages ago. Apparently I've been accepted, but I vaguely remember them telling me that if I didn't get the forms in before the deadline I could still be rejected. So what happens if you haven't got any forms to hand in????
