What type of school might provide appropriate
accommodations for a married couple of which only one will teach ESL?
I plan to land a teaching job in Japan for next year, and my wife will accompany me with
what I understand to be a "dependant visa".
Between the two of us, I am the only native english speaker. We prefer not to share an apartment.
Which school might help us to accomplish this? |

There are no hard or fast rules to which companies will accomodate a married couple and which will not. Some companies are willing to HIRE both parties -- if this is the case, then maybe you can convince them to help you find a suitable apartment (instead of the standard 1k). Otherwise, don't expect companies to line up with offers of support for a spouse that isn't their employee... Many will tolerate this, but not actively ASSIST you in that regard. In your situation, being the only native speaker, and not expecting that your wife will be working, I think you may end up making a lot of your own arrangements on your own time...
I find it exceedingly strange that you do NOT want to share an apartment. Why would you not want to live with your wife? Sounds like you have some other problems as well. |

Jim, I think the guy meant sharing with OTHER teachers. I thought that at first as well, he didn't write it very clear. |
