|
|
I just have a quick question about certain legalities with my wife's VISA.
We are currently working for NOVA and we came here on sponsored full-time VISA's from Australia. (we are over 30)
The problem is that my wife wants to leave and foreign personnel have told her that if she leaves NOVA she has to go back to Australia because NOVA sponsored her VISA.
Is this true?
I seem to remember reading that even thogh NOVA sponsor you to come into the country, once you are in, apart from breaking their flimsy contract, you are able to work where you want for the duration of the VISA - hence why so many jobs are advertising asking for a full working VISA.
So what's the deal? I am quite fine to keep working at NOVA and I don't know if this aids my wifes status in Japan.
Thanks in Advance. |

I have just answered this on teaching in japan
The answer is NO, she does not have to leave. She has a valid visa until the expiry date in her passport. the visa comes from immigration, not NOVA and no one can make her leave Japan except immigration (in handcuffs and escorted onto the plane). |

and further to Paul's reply, I would rub Nova's 'face in it' if they are going to give your wife dud advice. Next time they feed her that line, get her to say "OK. Please put that condition IN WRITING on headed notepaper whilst I wait here patiently for you to do so......"; they might start back-peddling rather quickly methinks..... |

Keep in mind though that a lot of the Japanese staff is told one thing, when policy is clearly another. |

They can and may well stop sponsoring her (they can let immigration know about it) but that is pretty much just red tape. It just frees the company from responsibility should your wife decide to go on a crime spree or something. (!)
But as the others has said the Visa is yours, in your passport to do with as you will.
A similar thing happened to me a while back. The company (Interac) tried to scare me in submission with blatant misinformation.
So, let's try and let these companies know - "Stop feeding people b******t" |
