Anyone with experience working for Yakup International Co. Ltd, Project Hope? Sounds like it has some fairly good packages, just curious if anyone had some first hand knowledge.
Cheers,

I don't know anything about 'Project Hope" but if you do a search on this website, and also ESL Teachers' Board you will find many bad reports about Yakup in their capacity as recruiters of EFL teachers. On the other hand, I have read 1 or 2 posts from people who were quite satisfied with Yakup; Rhonda on this forum being one of them. |

Yes I got lucky mainly - no thanks to Yakup International particularly.
I would not recommend coming to China with a Recruiter unless you had never travelled here before, and had no idea where you wanted to teach etc.
It is up to you to watch out for your own interests in relation to salary etc. as the Recruiter is only interested in his commission when he places you in a School.
I will check out Project Hope myself. |

I have always thought that project Hope was a CHARITY. They raise funds in Hong Kong from time to time, and they have volunteers do work for free. How come those Yakup buggers got involved with them this time? This is weird! |

yeah i did think it was a bit weird, which i was wondering if the whole set up was legit. i quoted the project wrong, it is "Hope Project", not project hope. at any rate they have a flashy, albeit tacky, website, http://www.yakup-international.com, but i am getting the feeling that any non-volunteer packages are not associate with the NGO sponsored hope project at all. the posting is on the job postings section of this website, fairly recent.
i'm not really a fan of the idea of using a recruiter, even though i've never travelled as far as asia before. but it sounds like job demand may be high enough anyways (beijing, shanghi)? |

The charity I mentiolned definitely goes by the name of PROJECT HOPE; if YAKUP is advertising a "Hope Project", then they are obviously trying to jump onto a moving bandwagon by scalping someone's good name (albeit by slightly modifying it).
How despicable! |

I agree. It is disgusting to see people using this as a way to get newbie do-gooders to think that they are working for a charity organization. But again, this is China, anything goes. |
