Are there any jobs out there that don't require you to teach kids??? (By kids, I mean 0-12).

I don't teach kids, well they act like kids at times but they tell me they aren't.

How about some more information? Where are you? What qualifications do you have? Are you willing to travel? Help yourself help yourself first. You posted a one-liner asking for something and you expect people to spoon feed you with information. Spend some time reading some of the previous threads too.

Assuming your overseas right now, at many conversation schools, you teach adults or people out of high school. Take Nova for example, you end up teaching adults and they also have a kids program, but they usually ask first if you're interested.

Many people actually find that they like teaching kids too, even if they were opposed to it before. Try not to be so closed minded. Thinking about coming to a different country that is so different, having an open mind will make it an even better experience. That probably goes with most things though.

There are so many jobs to apply for online. If you aren't picky, specifically state you do not wish to teach children. Then apply and apply and apply until you find a school that doesn't cater to teaching children and they find that they want you as a teacher.

I wasn't keen on teaching kids. I worked for GEOS, and the manager made me give model lessons to kids as young as 2. It wasn't very fun. I eventually got another job as an ALT at an Elementary school, and I thouroughly enjoyed teaching school aged children.

They were enthusiastic and a lot of fun.

I think it is bizarre how some parents want their kids to go to English conversation schools before they even hit ichinensei in Shogako.

If you want to avoid teaching kids under 12, get a job as an ALT and go to a Junior High.

I kinda didn't like dealing with kids at first (screaming, rebellious, spoiled, dirty, etc.), but at my school we had to teach kids as young as 1.5 yrs old to ppl close to my grandma's age, so I had an opportunity teaching a variety of age groups. And for the most part, I find that I feel most rewarding teaching kids. Some of them are bad but most are cute & eager to learn English & it's really neat seeing how fast they pick up the language & how fast they grow! The best thing about teaching kids is that they don't judge you differently by your appearance, where you're from, how old you are, & any other social factors (unlike some adult students). If you love them, then most likely they'll love you back, & they love you cuz of you -- as a whole person -- and not just by any other outside factors. A smile from a kid is purely from their heart, & not cuz they had to (ex. manner). Most of them (I say most cuz a few kids I taught are a bit evil) are really pure. They run to you & give you warm hugs~ shaking their little hands or doing high-five's are so cute too~ Now I really like teaching kids (I also like teaching other age groups too)! So why don't you also give it a try? Who knows? You might change your views on them~

Just to let you know, NOVA will give you the impression that teaching kids is optional in the interview but when you get here, EVERYONE has to teach kids. It's compulsory. Tricks and annoys a lot of teachers. I love kids personally, but I know a lot of teachers that don't.

Well, okay but there are what, over 200 teachers in that branch? The point is if they need some kids teachers, you don't get a say in the matter. Most smaller branch teachers are forced to teach kids.

you don't "teach" kids at NOVA. You babysit them.
