| Does anyone have any info about ACE Education/ Northern Consortium (UMIST and other UK universities) and their operations in Wuhan, Qingdao and Chengdu. I have been offered a post at a salary reduced from the one initially discussed at the interview and quoted in the job ad. This was explained away as being 'because of the situation in China' (!?). It has set of warning bells in my head. Thanks |

I do not know this outfit, but I offer you my opinion that if they have no qualms lowering their remunerations in spite of having publicised better conditions before, then you had better keep your hands off them as they will feel free to move the goal posts all the time, including the last day when they are supposed to hand over your airfare.
That very often is withheld.
There currently is no reason to reduce pay or other benefits; to the contrary, the SARS crisis should boost salaries. |
