I have a little chunk of money coming and I want to buy a place in/around Beyoglu. I need advice re the ins and outs of the bureaucracy. What kinds of permission do I need, how long does it take, etc.? Any useful websites? Any useful words of wisdom?
Thanks in advance

Hı Molly,
By Turkish law any citizen who comes from a a country where Turks are allowed to buy property can buy in Turkey. From what I recall you are British, and thus you will have no worries at all. There's only one catch you have to buy property within the limits of a city area. It takes about 2 days to do the title deed transfer and you have to have your passport 2 photos, and in some cases work or residencey papers, you don't need to be a resident but some of the title deed works don't know that so take them with you. Be ready to pay for the local etaste valuation tax as well.
Good luck. |
