All of the health organizations are currently recommending vaccines for Japanese Encephalitis for those who are going to teach in Vietnam. My girlfriend and I are trying to weigh the risks/benefits of getting the vaccine b/c apparently the vaccine itself is pretty dangerous.

Can anyone tell us -- did you recieve the vaccine before going to teach in vietnam, or did you avoid it b/c you are centralized in urban areas? Also, is it recognized as a concern while over there?

Thanks in advance, any info at all is extremely helpful.
