Has anyone studied PART-TIME for the DELTA whilst living in Moscow? I know BKC do an intensive DELTA course in the summer but I personally don't want to take two months unpaid leave to do it or use any of my flexible leave and would rather study part-time while I am working.

I have seen that EF are now offering an online course with the practical block in Moscow which leads to the Trinity Diploma. If anyone has had any experience of this, please could you share them on here. Also, if anyone has done the IH/ BC Distance DELTA, I would be interested in hearing about that too, though it's not possible to do the practical or the orientation in Moscow, I know.

In addition, is there a great deal of difference between the Cambridge and the Trinity courses? I have heard that the Trinity one is a lot easier with more emphasis on the practical rather than the theory. The British Council say that both the Cambridge and the Trinity one are accepted in their organisation so really I just want to know which one would be better for me to do, To be honest , I have heard only bad things about the Distance DELTA so it would be interesting to hear you experiences.

Sorry about the long-winded post!

I did my DELTA (then DTEFLA) in Moscow by distance learning 4 years ago in Moscow with the British Council. I was working for them part-time at that point. I recommend going to see them about it. I believe the next distance DELTA intake is in March, but you'll need to get an application in before too long. When I did it with them, the induction (2 weeks) was held there and then it was 9 months of distance study with 2 exams (DELTA has 1) at the end.

As for hearing bad things about the distance DELTA - that's because it's bloody hard work. The distance DELTA actually has a slightly higher pass rate than the 2-month intensive. I would say that passing was only possible for me because I spent about 8 months doing background reading before I started it from the distance DELTA reading list and spent around 8-10 hours a week on it while I was doing it.

To be totally honest, I didn't enjoy the distance DTEFLA at all, but it has had a positive effect on my teaching, my career and ultimately, best-of-all, my bank balance.

Any other Qs please PM me.
