You know it's kind of funny I brought up the topic about Korea because I didn't realize the Chinese, or Taiwanese, have such bad feelings about the Koreans.

Just the other day I taught a female businesswoman and she said flat out that "Koreans are the worst. . .They want us dead. . .I hate Korea. . ."

This, of course, was referring to economics, or business matters. Nonetheless, I see Korea shining through a little bit here in all its boldness and offensiveness. I thought Japan was the business warrior, but it appears Korea has a knack to offend outsiders other than those living within its dark doman.

The Koreans are a little more Japanese than the people here on Taiwan. That being said Korea has been able to advance far ahead of Taiwan in many fields leaving Taiwan looking and feeling like, well Taiwan.
China Shipbuilding has been trying for the better part of 25 years to compete with Hyundai shipbuilding only to end up a joke.
Just about the only industry where Taiwan has an advantage is computer chips. That is because Korea has a very strong organized labor movement that operates independently from government control. Without cheap skilled migrant/slave laborers Korea has a hard time competing. That is changing and I expect that the only market Taiwan will still have a strong presence in the near future will be organized crime, maybe that is the service industry that the president was talking about.

Ahh. . .I don't know about this Aristotle. Taiwan is being geo-politically isolated, which is why Korea has sided with China, so as to keep Taiwan from surpassing their foothold econonomically and in the hightech field. Korea also obliterates a lot of their businesses, from what I hear. Taiwan seems to have a lot more of a professional approach, more skilled labor, but not the competitive edge Korea has usurped over many fields. Korea has developed a bad rep on the economic stage as well, something that just kind of makes me laugh, because they're always complaining about America's dominance over their economy yet now I can see why. Korea wants to take all.

South Korea GNI per capita: US $9,930 (World Bank, 2002)

Taiwan GNI per capita: US $12,900 (government statistic, 2002)

So Taiwan ain't doing that bad for a politically isolated anomally.

I lived and worked in Sosa just outside of Seoul. Koreans hate everyone, but hate the Japanese most of all. Koreans even hate themselves that is why only 8 years after getting their independence from Japan they went to war against each other.
