Has anyone else been contacted by this agency?
http://www.anesl.com/schools/index.asp
On their amateurish home page they state:
"The Peoples Republic of China is the third largest country in the world in terms of population". It also borders the "formerly Soviet Union" and "Laso".
Do they honestly think anyone is going to take them seriously? |

They certainly do!
But they don't know you and me! |

Perhaps, 'Craptain', you could direct the forum to an online example of your (flawless) Chinese script. Could you write the text for a website in Chinese? If not, keep it to yourself on the language criticism front.
I see no more errors on that site than in many of the posts on these pages, peppered with their habitual and recurring mistakes. Of course, these latter mistakes differ in that they are made by native speakers of English (maybe that is the problem, maybe they are not native writers), and are teachers of English to boot! |

Ludwig, for the same effort that it takes some Zhongren on the street to say, "Hello", a company could also make the effort to ask that same native English speaker, "Is this right?".
Too many companies are soliciting ISO certification and wishing to comply with WTO standards, that is seems laughable that they'd still prefer to honor face (using an electronic dictionary) over actually asking a foreigner to help with their spelling and syntax on their promotional materials.
So, to each his/her own. Savior faire. I said it before - everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion. Captain Yossarian has his, I've said mine...you have yours.
And now I think we've turned this post into a non-job-related one. |

Ludwig, you really are a prating sour-faced skainsmate. I enjoy your posts immensely and feel that I have truly entered the Dave's community when I have been condemned by you.
The last site I made in Chinese was a translation of Standard Charter's homepage. It has been updated recently but I don't think you'll spot any mistakes as I have spent nearly ten years working, writing, thinking and dreaming in Chinese.
I see little difference between an employer making mistakes on their promotional material than with an employee making mistakes in their application. Both should set alarm bells ringing.
