Hi. One of my new coworkers recently got his FM3. His wife and 10 month old child also recently arrived. We have been trying to find out exactly what they need to do to stay in the country legally. The wife part we can figure out, but there doesn't seem to be anywhere that we can find informatin about the baby. We've been told that his daughter must get a passport from the US in order to obtain her own visa. From my understanding, they don't offer passports to 10 month olds as the odds are they won't be traveling alone any time soon. If anyone has gone about this process and could give some answers or contacts, it would be greatly appreciated. |

My daughter was born in the Emirates 15 years ago. (We're Canadians.) She has always had her own passport because my former spouse and I never knew when one of us might be travelling (or might *have* to travel) on our own with her. Her first passport photo was taken at approximately one week of age. It was initially valid for only one year, but we were able to extend it. I advise against children going on their parents' passports. I'm afraid I don't have more recent knowledge, especially about the American situation, but I would be surprised if they wouldn't offer a baby a passport. |

My son has had both his Mexican and American passports since he was 2 months old. I suggest you contact the consulate closest to you for more information. |

Thanks for the help. The consulate has been contacted, but as we all know, they never give the same answer twice, so I thought it a goo idea to double check with people. Thanks again. |
