Hello alejovaije!
Ayutthaya is roughly 80 km (50 miles) from Bangkok, so you could catch a bus into town easily on the weekends and have some fun. Bus transportation is comfy, air-conditioned and reliable; they leave about every 30 minutes.
From a historical and architectural standpoint, I'm told Ayutthaya is quite beautiful.
Here's some general info that might be helpful:

THE CITY OF AYUTTAYA DOESN'T LET PEOPLE IN WHO TYPE IN ALL CAPS. PLEASE DON'T TYPE IN ALL CAPS, NO ONE WILL GIVE YOU ANY MORE ATTENTION BECAUSE YOU DO SO.
Ayuttaya is basically an anceint temple complex about an hour or so north of the Kok. It would be easy to come into Bangkok on the weekend by bus or train, but pretty much impossible to commute between those two places during the week (unless you owned a car and lived near Chatuchak). It's a smallish town, everyone gets around by bike or motorcycle, many tourists stop by for a day or two -- especially Japanese and Korean.
I imagine there aren't too many jobs there, but if there are jobs there they probably pay about 25k a month -- and because Ayuttaya is quite small (and therefore probably gets boring pretty fast) I imagine it's possible for even galoots to get these jobs as they'll be slightly undesireable. Every farang I talk to who's visited Ayuttaya says that if you want to live there you'll have to buy a motorscooter or bicycle to get around (and given Thailand's weather I'd say forget the bike), so figure that into your equation. |

It's a pretty little town, nice temple ruins. Kent you got to go there for a look, man.
I think you would get bored quite easily, it is small. Luckily, it is close to Bangkok so you will have lots to do on the weekend. It's an easy train trip too. |
