I have been offered well paying jobs in Guangzhou and Dalian and wonder if someone could suggest which is the better option.
Mt ticket is for May 7 so wish to make sure I am doing the right thing.

It depends on what you like. I'm partial to Dalian, although Northern winters aren't exactly fun. Razz

Guangzhou, IMHO, is the armpit of China. On the negative side, it is too big, too dirty, and too polluted for my tastes. Plus, the food in Guangdong province kind of sucks. However, on the positive side, Guangzhou enjoys great weather in the winter and is very close to Hong Kong (one of my favorite cities in the world), which makes for great weekend getaways (say goodbye to your paycheck!) and provides a nice launching pad for holidays to other destinations in Asia.

Wish I could give you my take on Dalian, but I haven't made it there yet. By the way, did you post this to the China forum? I am sure you would get more feedback there.

Good luck,
Kirk

I don't know, Ailian! Don't interrupt my marketing and advertising exercises, please. That's still a very cute avatar.

Jay,
buy a LONELY PLANET and find out about Guangzhou and Dalian.
I don't the heck see how I can decide for you which place is more suitable for you. You must also consider your own suitability here.
