I'm thinking of travelling around Argentina for a while before I begin my teaching work, but as the economy isn't so good I was wondering if the prices in the guidebooks are to be trusted.

So what I'd like to know is:

How much for a hostel bed for a night?

How much is a decent meal?

And most importantly, how much for a beer? And how much beer do you get? (I bet it doesn't come in pints.)

Any help you can give would be... er... very helpful!

6 US a bed a night breakfast internet included.

Beer comes in a Kosh( spelling?) something akin to a handle, haven�t been to bar, but litre bottle of beer costs 1Us. Basically I�m spaending 100US a week thats cheap. Maybe it�s cheaper than Asia but I certainly feel more at home here.

The latest Rough Guide South America and LP S AM on a Shoestring are both pretty much up to date. Travel wise (including transport, hostels, activities etc) you'll probably spend around �400-�500 a month, maybe more maybe less depending on how much you eat and drink out. A dorm bed in a hostel costs �3.50 in BsAs, less away from the city, a huge steak and chips about �3, lunch specials and pasta under �2 and a good bottle of wine under �2. Bus travel is the best way to get around and costs, for example, about �18 to get to Iguazu and �16 to Mendoza.

And beer doesn't come in pints unfortunately. You can get half litre glasses but the beer is all pissy lager...oh for a decent pint of bitter or even just a london pride...

It's just that i know one of the the owners of Fullers' Breweries and hate to think that every time i buy a pint of London Pride i'm adding to that moron's ridiculous wealth!
