|
|
I wonder if we could all do ourselves a favour and ensure that the topic title for starting a thread is clear and avoids ambiguity. Several times I have accessed a thread which I then realise i'm not particularly interested in because the title is so unclear. On the other hand, I dont want to miss threads that might be of interest to me. I know this is not a big deal but, all the same, it doesnt take much imagination to put a few relevant words together to make an appropriate title. Titles like "Hello" really dont help much. Just my tuppence worth.
thanks and regards

If your time is so valuable that you couldn't risk clicking on a thread of little personal interest, maybe you shouldn't come here at all. |

I've noticed that the people who commit these "heinous crimes" of mis-representing the posts are often people on their first or second post. They don't really know any better and usually someone sets them straight. Not a big deal IMO. We'll survive. |

Just ignore any thread which has 'sex', 'western women', 'in defence of ...' or 'C@pergirl' and you'll probably find the thread is on topic |

I have a strong feeling this thread is soon going to be 'rubbished', so just to repeat that it would be helpful if thread titles could be on topic.
thanks and cya.

I support you, Mr. Basil!
I Just don't click on vague titles. Political ones either.

Surely you're over rating the posts and their value to you, aren't you? |

yeah, clarity is a real owl under the pillow.
brevity is the gorilla of the McDonald's queue. So naturally you know my opinion on this very important topic of the day....
The greatest philosopher Neitszhzvche said
"Words are bricks,
or walls,
or something" ---i can't remember and who cares.
You know what really dogs my cats? COming home and kicking off my shoes when I am tired and then when I am late in the morning I can't put them on just as easily but I struggle for five minutes and then untie the laces and wear my shoes all day in disgust.
Hey that reminds me, I think I will use Steve Martin's book "Cruel Shoes" as my textbook this semester. THen berate my students if they don't see the humor in shinbone polish and dogs that steal art.
Hey, here's an excerpt:
Pointy Birds
by Steve Martin
Pointy birds,
oh pointy pointy.
Anoint my head
anointy 'nointy.
ok i'm done. |

For my (most horrible) Modern Canadian Poetry class last semester, I had to write a five-page paper on a poem. Here is the poem:

( <--- not part of the poem) |

Is that British English? Not sure if I follow its meaning. |

Yes, it's British, that explains it. Why, it was Princess Diana's favorite expression.
"It's hot enough to boil a monkey's bum, your Majesty," she'd say, as she smiled quietly to herself. |

But I'm still having a bit of a problem with the clarity of the idiom.
Is an owl under the pillow a good thing or a bad?
I smile because I've oten been accused of nagativity at times.
I wish we had some emoticons that weren't so Blah. |
