i think it might be a good idea on forums such as this to have topics sorted by city. there are 100+ pages of info.....many people are looking for info. on certain cities--i think?--i'm looking for info. on hong kong and it's frustrating to have to search through everything else.
just an idea......china is a big place...so is japan...and there are no sub-categories for seperate cities......or is there something i'm missing? |

Sounds like a good idea.... but who'll do it? Seems like a lot of work. |

Come on - Hong Kong has a separate forum (even though it is a Chinese city; but then again it IS a different jurisdiction!).
I don't think a forum that gives city-specific forums would be very helpful; how many forums would we then have?
The majority of enquiries and replies are of a more general kind - just count all the queries on visas, working conditions, student behaviour, requirements for jobs etc. |

It depends on what kind of info you're seeking I guess. If you want to know such things as tourist-sites, geography, climate, location, seasons, etc. Then all you need to is "Google" the city in which you're interested and you'll undoubtedly get a plethora of good info. For example, I googled Suzhou and came across this website:
http://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/suzhou.htm
If you want to know about a school, Google's handy for that as well (for many schools - - I'm sure not all).
Now, getting into more specific things after you've moved to a city such as what kind of night life is there or how to find your local Carrefour, then Dave's is a good source (in the off-topic forum, of course). |
