actually quite a lot of questions about Taiwan.

how easy would it be to get a job if I just turned up in Taiwan?

I've heard that it can be a good idea (in terms of making money) to turn up with no job, look around for a part-time job and then teach groups of kids from home, is this as easy as it sounds?

how much is a part-time salary likely to be?

what's the deal with visa's if I were to do this?

Which city would be best for the fastest results, and would any particular time of year be best to arrive considering term dates and holidays and the like.

how much money would I need to get set up?

how easy is it to get an appartment and what are rent rates like?

I've been teaching in China and private tuition usually has to be kept pretty quiet. Is it the same in Taiwan or can I openly ask around for privates?

I think that's about it, I hope you can help me out

thanks

I turned up and had one in three days.

You'll have to ask the veterans.

Teaching where? Teaching whom? Teaching legally or under the table?

The whole visa issue is in a state of flux at present. I would recommend visiting here for the latest.

From experience, Taipei and the beginning of June, but others may have different ideas.

I came over with NT$35,000, and that was plenty.

That depends on where you live. In Taipei there are apartments aplenty, but they are not always cheap. I'm paying NT$14,500 a month for mine.

Let's put it this way - private means just that. But you can ask around for sure.
