I once met some people there who claimed to work for Citibank. They seemed to be on quite a good deal. |

I used to think my school was okay, but people have been quitting recently. One of the "administrators" says not to have the children read too much in class ." Personally, I do not think the man has taught a day in his life if he thinks the students can handle any material in the unti without beiing able to read and understand it first. Oh, just do some actions he says. I am working at a learning center and then in 2 primary schools in W Beijing. One of the primary schools is fine. The students read well so the classes go by quickly and the students have a lot of fun.The other school the students are at such a low level. The third graders can not even write. The Chinese English teacher at that school is just teaching them Oral English. How are they going to pass any written exam if they can barely read or write?
Now I am getting screwed on overtime. My contract says anything over 18 classes a week is overtime. Then they say you have to have 80 classes in a month to even get it. Most teachers are teaching under 18 classes a week.I have to do 14 lesson plans a week.It is hardly worth it if I will not get paid for the extra classes. I'd be better off taking two part-time jobs.
Sorry to bitch, but I worked there during the summer program and it was great, but it seems like they REALLY do not know what they are doing now. There are typos and grammatical errors on the memos. They had to call a meeting, because the person that wrote the memo completely messed it up. They have lost five Chinese co- teachers and three foreign teachers since September.
Most of the teachers only have F visas.I am the only one that has a Z visa. I thought you have to have a Z visa to teach in China? |
