Ok, there are probably people on here who can give you better advice about jobs and things but I can tell you about the football.

You can see more games here than you can in England because generally you can see every Saturday afternoon game too. You will need to have sattelite TV though, or just go down to the pub. Check out www.tavern.com.tw.

They usually show the Sunday 4pm game on normal cable TV too.

As for Champions league, they generally show a couple games a week on standard cable TV. They kick off about 2.30am over here so be prepared for some late nights!

I'll let others answer your job-related questions but if you want any info about sorting out a Visa send me a PM and I'll give you the details.

Hi everyone! As you can see, this is my first post on here although I've been lurking for a few months.

I'm a 26 year old male from England, have a BA (Philosophy and History) and am doing a CELTA part-time right now (completed by April). I really want to teach in Asia - Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong in particular - and Taiwan, from what I've read, strikes me as a really good place to get started - decent standard of living (perhaps bordering on the lucrative), plenty of jobs etc etc.

I've a few questions. Please accept my apologies if these are repetitive questions. I've tried my best to read as much information as possible but it's impossible to remember everything and also not realistic to read every single page (let alone every thread!). Even if you've answered them a zillion times already, try your best to do so again for me! Very Happy

Don't come to Taiwan. A degree means nothing, unless you work at a college. Better of going to KOrea, or Japan. Foget Taiwan. ALl they want is money here.

* EFL in Taiwan seems geared largely towards kids. Right or wrong? I'd like to do a bit of kids work to make a bit extra and widen my experience - but teaching adults is my main priority. How much demand is there for teaching adults? I read on a site that it's possible to teach adults in the afternoon/evening and 2-3 hours of kids in the morning. That sounds cool. I'm not averse to split shifts at all - having worked them many times in the past.

* What are the best schools? I've looked at Kojen and Hess and they seem like a good place to start - although I'd want more than 20-25 hours a week (I'm looking for 30 at least and aim to save $1000 per month). I realise that even major chains have schools of variable quality, but what, generally, pays reasonably and has hours virtually guaranteed (if it's possible to make that generalization)?

* Is it possible to watch football (Soccer) on TV in Taiwan? How good is the coverage over there (football is huge business in Asia right?). I know it's pathetic of me to ask that, but I am a football addict and need a regular fix of English, Spanish, Italian and Champions League footy.

I've probably forgotten to ask something, so there might be more from me. Thanks in advance. Hey - what a fookin' cool concept this site is!
