hole-covers!!!!

Can you believe that one of the more common items stolen in this country are the heavy, cast-iron covers found in the middle of the streets!!? I mean, not only stolen...but I've yet to see any replaced! Cars get destroyed and if a small child ever fell into one of these holes...forget it!

They (citizens) often place concrete blocks and tree bracnches over the holes to protect themselves in the dark nights. What type of message does this send to a people who are desperately trying to improve their living conditions? Where are those who should be responsible... Question

Maybe those who should be responsible have already fallen through the man-holes. Wink

Where I live, one thing I've noticed is that people are expected to be responsible for their own safety in situations like these. Whether it's an open man-hole, an uncovered well, exposed electric wiring, holes in sidewalks, stop signs placed where hardly any drivers can see them, etc. -- potentially dangerous things which would seem relatively easy to repair or replace -- it's just not a high priority. In the city where I live, most utility poles aren't grounded, because the copper cables used for the grounding devices kept getting stolen as fast as they could be replaced. Also, I suspect some of it relates to fate and destiny. If it's not your destiny to fall into an open man-hole today, then you won't fall into one. If it is, you will. You can't change destiny.

Actually, Tim, I just this weekend heard of an unfortunate woman whose experience it was to complete her 'destiny' by falling into the sewers and getting swept away!!!

Evil or Very Mad I just hope she was planning a Marilyn Manson concert before she died!!! Twisted Evil
