I have just been offered work with Saxoncourt/Shane English schools in the Tokyo area. I haven't met anyone who has worked for them yet and would love to get any info possible from anyone who has. I am trying to work out whether to accept the job offer or wait and see if I get offered a place on the JET programme. Money is not the issue; the issue is which programme is better in terms of fun to be had, the teachers themselves, location and support network.
Anyone have any advice? Ideas? Experience?

You should ask Shane if they can put you in touch with any ex-teachers that would be willing to tell you about the working conditions etc. there. There was a bunch of negative stuff floating around the internet about them a while back, and if it is untrue, I am sure their ex-teachers will tell you so. I am on the Jet programme, and I would highly recommend it because of the extensive support network that it offerssomeone who is new to Japan. |
