I want to come to Taiwan in January but I will not have degree until May 2005 because I only finish my university courses in December 2004.
While I am waiting to get my university parchment to work legally here, I was thinking of doing the following.
1. Arrive in mid January and look for a place in Tai-Chung
2. Enrolling myself in Chinese lessons so I can get a student visa (and learn Chinese)
3. finding as many private lessons as possible so I can survive until May
My Background:
I have a two year college diploma
 Tesol certification
And 1 years of teaching experience working for an English school in Japan (on working holiday visa)
I will complete all necessary courses for a BA in December 2004.
Questions:
is teaching private lessons legal, and if not, is it still a realistic way to make enough money & not get deported? (this option over working illegally for an English school). Is the market for private lessons large enough? The fact is, I am going to need to survive in Taiwan for 4 months and I will only have about $2500 CAD to sustain me.
Do you have any other ideas to help me sustain during those four months?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |
