I contacted the Polish Embassy in Ottawa about military service in Poland. Here was their reply:
"Dear Sir,
We kindly inform you that according to The Law of 21 of November 1967 in regard with the military service, articles 4 and 44 of the said Law say that Polish citizens living permanently outside Poland and having dual citizenship at the same time are not the subject to the military service in Poland. So do not be afraid of beiing asked to join the Polish army because you will not be.. Have a nice stay in Poland.
Consular Division in Ottawa "
I hope that clears up some issues.

I think that the key word in that quote is "permanently". If you are in Poland for more than 6 months it may well be that you are no longer classed permanently resident outside Poland. |
