if anyone has the time (i wish i had more!)...u could easily help burmese refugee political prisoners, by simply going to IDC (Immig. det. center)<<<SOi Suan Phlu..., ask politely to visit them, and pass messages on to concerned parties (embassy officials) for them...piece of cake. They need a mailman to pass literature... that's it. I will have time eventually, and my P.A. and I will be able to pitch in, in about.... one month's time. (?)
If anybody gets on this, under their own energy, i'll compensate with beer at a later time.
Let me know.

So what exactly is the deal here? You go see the prisoners and take messages from them to the Burmese embassy?

Don't prison warders prevent this sort of stuff happening?

I'm going to be teaching English in Bangkok, but am interested in doing some sort/s of voluntary aid work. Do you haver any other contacts or ideas.

AK:
Actually there are many deals, passing notes for prisoners is small-time, yet helpful for them.
please stay in touch on this, as I am 80% sure to return to Bkk this coming week (for a brief stay), to get some things in order.

Perhaps we could meet in Klong Toei (my office) and discuss possblt's in person (?) Or you could call me on phone.

FYI: I have another (newbie) intrstd in helping out, perhaps you two could pair up until I return from next biz trip?..

face 2 face easier.

Thanks for your interest.

Sorry the way you posted, to me at least (and after reading it again there's no doubt as you were talking about meeting up etc.), gave the impression you were responding to AK, not as AK.....sorry if I was wrong!

And mate take it from me it's best not to throw your real name about on discussion boards!

well, you say, 'take it from you,' <<indicating experience

and you say 'its best not to put yur real name on this discussion board.'

So, my questuion is "why not?" What (exactly) is the risk?

I think my real name is already on this board somewhere...(?)

I suppose loads of people slating you using your real name is a bit of a problem, or at least it would be to me.

If you don't mind that, then I suppose you can go for it mate!

i hear ya.' It's hard enough not to resort to pettiness when some imbecile attempts to run u thru the mud,...but when your real name's involved, it'd be near impossible.
