Here's a post I got from Democrats Abroad. All Hong Kongers are invited to participate. If I could, I'd go just so I could say, (commencing with snooty accent) "You know, I was watching the election results with my friends at the Ritz...":

Watch the results come of this pivotal election in world history.
Several thousand are expected to congregate at ELECTION CENTRAL 2004 on
Wednesday, November 3rd in the ballroom of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Hong Kong.
Democrats Abroad, Republicans Abroad, the League of Women Voters, the American
Womens Association and the American Chamber of Commerce are jointly hosting.
CNN has sponsored a large Video wall, and Microsoft is providing PCs so voters
can monitor the returns in their home states and local elections.
Cash breakfast and lunch buffets are available. Doors open at 7:00 am, as the
first returns arrive, and the event runs until 2 pm. At 2 pm, Dems Abroad HK
will be moving the party over to Grappas Cellar, Jardine House for what is
hoped to be an afternoon of jubilant celebration! Along these lines, please . .

Sounds great.
I would attend, only I am not a US citizen, and would also feel ratehr worried about being in a location which has advertised that a large number of US citizens will be there at a paticualr time to celebrate the US political process.
Hence I shall be with you in spirt, and watch the somethign other than the US election results on TV and wait for the definaive version on the news highlights. |
