The first, second and third degrees require masons to take oaths which specify ghastly punishment for divulging secrets or whatever. None of them include pokers, red hot or otherwise, but they're pretty nasty all the same. I should stress that they're symbolic - at least I've never heard stories of their being applied!
Yes, I've posted things on the KSA forum, among others. |

Hmmmm...wonder what they mean by nasty? Teaching for life in a less than reputable third-world language school? Queueing for Romanian train tickets in mid-summer or the day before Xmas Eve?
Any further suggestions? |

My mom finally got her documents back, she has a new birth certificate with her name that she got when she was naturalised as a USA citizen, now the new steop is registering her marriage and then she can apply for a passport. |

Of course it's too good to be true. Now they are telling her that she has to change her marriage certificate so that her name matches her new birth certificate and USA naturalisation papers. All of this because she signed her name wrong when she was nine years old. After this, then she can register her marriage and then finally a passport. |

Good news!
HOpefully, my mom will be able to change her name. I asked my mom for the website and found out that for the past two months, she has been emailing the webmaster So I emailed the church record dept and they told me to email the county. HOpefully with emails and phone calls, they can change the name quickly and then finish the process so that she can finally get her passport. |

When will the made-for-TV movie be broadcast on the Lifetime network? |

Whaddya mean, made-for-TV? I would suggest Hollywood, the fullwhack.
Wecould get Oliver Stone to do a political expose of eastern European political bureaucracy/corruption. Or perhaps Scorsese to give us a stylish, dark thriller with touches of black humour? Perhaps Quentin Tarantino, with loads of urban violence...NG goes amok in frustration in Bucharest, blowing up govt offices. THAT I could relate to, having some experience of Romanian govt depts myself. LOL
Coppolla could do, on the other hand, something on a grand scale about the harshness of life for would-be Romanian residents, with apocalyptic overtones.
Who directed Gladiator, again? A large epic would be good, with NG taking on all the forces of evil.
We could go for something lighter, with a Disney production of Mickey Mouse bureaucracy!!!!
Or a Bernardo Bertolucci exercise in form-over-substance, with Juliette Binnoche sitting in a govt office, all alone, for three hours, with Ciaroscuro lighting effects as we watch the expressions on her face?
Possibilities are endless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All that aside, congrats on making progress, NG. I owe you an email, as I do many others...on the way, on the way...Insha'allah. |

One thing I am curious about, is how many times your mother got mad about the ordeal? Did she ever menace you to give up? |

I'm not quite sure why you are bothering. It's not that hard to get a residence permit and even easier and cheaper to border-hop to Bulgaria every three months. Surely you'd be better off taking the plunge and coming here, seeing if you can get a job, seeing whether you actually like it or not first before going through this ordeal. |

Romanian citizenship will not grant you the legal right to work in Europe. Since Romania's not part of the EU, the process of obtaining a work permit in any European country is a nightmare most employers fear and try to avoid as much as possible. Your skills and qualifications will not matter when put into balance with the citizenship, you can trust me on that. |
