Our school has a group of about 40 7-9 year old students with fair English skills. We have to perform a play for the parents in early January, but we are having some difficulty finding cheap (free?) plays or musicals for a group of kids this size. Does anyone have any ideas? |

If you can find some old "Peanuts" comic strips online, you might give them a read. First of all, it features kids in that age group. The language is usually pretty simple and Schultz often would run a storyline/theme for a week or two, so there is continuity. You could adapt a fairly simple play from these. Otherwise, you could adapt most any well-known fairy tale into a play: Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Hansel and Gretal, etc. I'm sure they have the Chinese equivalent here, so maybe many of the kids are familiar with the stories. |
