Has anyone traveled with a pet dog to HCMC? Any difficulty at the airport? |

I just brought my dog over from Australia to Hanoi, going via HCMC.
The dog will go as freight, so you pick it up from the cargo section of the airport. As long as you have all the right papers & health checks for export from your country of origin, then it will be fine, but it just takes a while because you have to go through customs and quarantine and back again.
One thing to note, which we found out the hard way, is that customs isn't open the same hours as the airport. They open at 8 and close at 5. So if the flight gets in later than 5, then the dog has to stay there overnight.
Let me know if there's anything specific you want to know... |

Thanks for the info.
THe other questions I have are: beside rabies shot, what other health check do I need for my dog? And what do I need for my rabbit? Thanks |

Well, with the dog, you need:
- Rabies shot 30 days before you leave
- Leptospiridium (lepto) test 15 days before you leave
- Vet check 48 hours before you leave
There should be a division of customs in your country which handles quarantine issues (e.g. AQIS in Aust.). They should be able to tell you how/where you get the above things done. Only certain vets do them and provide the certification for you to bring in to Vietnam with you. |
