I am a teacher living in Wrocław, Poland. Last year i worked for Big Ben, a school currently seeking teachers on the Job Board of this website, for a total of four months. During that time I was paid on time only once. The rest of the time I was given the run around (the owner even went to the trouble of changing his mobile phone number several times to avoid me).

Once I got ahold of him, he berated me for being unprofessional (I had never been absent or tardy and maintained a professional standard at all times), and after verbally abusing me, threatened me physically. I did, through sheer stubborness, manage to eventually get all of the money that was due to me. However I had to threaten him with legal action in order to do so and not all of the teachers were as persistent.

Recently the owner of the school has been featured in several newspaper
articles due to the fact that he is on trail for 1)illegally employing teachers 2) tax evasion and will soon be sued by Newsweek for illegally using their logo.

In light of these facts I suggest potential teachers considering this job offer look elsewhere. thanks for listening and good luck.

Kaczka,

Holy...., I'm sorry you had to go through that. That owner at B.B. sound like a real a-hole...and this is the school that advertises itself as one of "the best", according to Newsweek, n'est ce pas? It seems finding work at the "right" school is not such an easy thing here in Poland. (And I was complaining about my getting only 13 hrs/week because of some students complaining that my Polish wasn't good enough to explain grammar to them!)
At least I have always gotten paid on time, and my flat is paid for.
If you're still in Poland, you might want to consider looking for work at Bell School in Poznan (they were hiring recently), or even at Piomarhouse here in Kalisz, where I work: the school is very "cheap" ,i.e. has limited resources, and the pay is not GREAT, but at least it's on time.

In the meantime, Powodzenia!

Mike
