Hello Everyone!

I'm from the Philippines, Asian looking, excellent English (oral and written), college degree (AB English), education units good enough to teach in college (in my country's standards), been working with expatriates here in my country (mostly Canadians and Americans), accent almost american since i'm dealing with them most of the time, currently working as an elearning specialist with a US company based here (for cheap labor of course). wanting to teach English in China.... Now here goes my questions:

1. What are my chances in getting a good teaching job?

2. Can you suggest any good agencies/schools who might want to consider someone from the Philippines?

Also, I've read some threads here about YAKUP INTL, bad reputation. However, they are the only agency I've searched so far that would consider someone from my country. If I use them, I can only hope that they place me to a good school (which is a fifty fifty chance). Rolling Eyes

Any help, suggestions, whatever would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers! Arrow

Why not use your e-learning skills and experience in other Asian countries? Putting supplementary lessons and other materials online is all the rage. But precious few EFL teachers know anything about the technology or about online curriculum design. If you do, then you can be a big help in places like Japan, Taiwan, Korean, Thailand and elsewhere where e-learning is such a buzzword (but so poor in the eventual execution).

Good point there, Asia Traveller. That's actually one of my plans. However, there are lots of things I need to know before I can put materials and lessons online. Hands on experience would help me in many ways. That's why I wanted to learn more about their style of teaching. Who knows maybe in a year or two, this could materialize.

Then be sure to look for EFL teaching jobs where there is already some online delivery of course materials. Or where there are plans to create such online materials. You'll be in a good position to start working on them -- and you're resume will look extremely attractive to the hiring agency, recruiter and school.

Cheers and good luck!

Indeed, thanks for the tip! I'd be sure to look into that. Mr. Green
