|
|
I was looking forward to go teach English in Japan thinking it would be easy to find a job there.
Unfortunately, haven't had any luck finding a job yet.
My problem is that I don't have a BA.
I was wondering if anyone had any information about employers in Japan that do not require a degree.
Thanks in advance,
Saan |

What is your nationality?
If you are American, you will have to get the bachelor's degree for a work visa, or have several years of experience teaching. Otherwise, your only options are to get a spouse visa (marry a Japanese), dependent visa (marry a non-Japanese who has a FT job here), or student visa (enroll in a school here).
Other nationalities have the same options, plus one more: working holiday visa. Canadians, Brits, Australians, Germans, Koreans, French, and New Zealanders can get the WHV if they are between 18 and 30 and can prove financial support.

Thanks for the link!
I already knew about the holiday visa, but I can't seem to find an employer who is willing to hire you if you don't have a BA.
PS: I am Canadian |

On the working holiday visa you are not supposed to line up work or find a full time job before you leave the country. that is not the pupose of the working holiday visa. Most will tell you to contact them when you arrive in Japan with your WHV. The Japanese consulate may even refuse to issue you a working holiday visa if you show your main purpose is to work in Japan rather than travel around and sightsee. They know you will work, but it should not be your main purpose for coming to Japan. The WHV is not a work visa.
Not only that there are already so many people here already with a degree and teaching experience that they dont need to find people from overseas and don't have a degree, and thus cant get a full time work visa.
November-December is a bad time to be looking for work here anyway. |

Just so you know, the employerd doesnt require a degree, imigration does, to sponsor your visa. With no degree no one can sponsor your visa and you cant get a job here.
The working holiday is really your only option, if you are not married to a japanese national and have no degree. Moaning about the fact you can't get someone to hire you when they can't issue you a work visa in the first place is a waste of time |
