Hola!

What I find really annoying about Chinese schools is the schedule. The staff makes it up as they go along. Nobody (students, staff, or teachers) can tell me when the last day of school for the semester is.

What I find very annoying is the fact that schools make their teachers work on the weekend to make up lost time on a holiday. I hate this because I have a routine and a schedule and this interrupts that. Also, if you work two jobs, this upsets the balance also.

I like Chinese holidays because they are evenly spread out over the year, October 1 week, Chinese new year (Jan-Feb), May 1 week, summer holiday. If only we can teach the stupid Chinese how to make a teaching schedule!

I just want to agree with boogie woogie. This will be my third year teaching in China and I never get the schedule sufficiently in advance to make plans.

As to the recent vacation cancellation, it is absurd. I canceled my trip to go back to the states for fear I would not be able to reenter. I was also advised by my boss not to travel as it wasn't safe. Now almost all my extra classes have been canceled indefinately so I might as well have gone home.

I'm just taking one day at a time and trying to get organized in the event I have to leave suddenly. Embarassed Crying or Very sad
