I travel by plane to Thailand from China January 1st - Hoorar!!! Am I right in thinking I get 30 days visa on entry ? My return is booked for Feb 14th so what should I do ? I have read that you can apply for another 14 days for 1900 baht. My entire trip is 45 days so is this major problem? I might go to Vietnam for a trip - If I do this will I be issued with a fresh 30 day visa and not have to worry ?
Apologies if this is a simple question that has been covered a trillion times but I jus wanna b sure !!! |

Yeah you automatically get 30 days on entry and they'll give you a 10 to 15 day extension on top of this (up to the Imm officers discretion, although if you showed them your return ticket they'd probably be cool about it). If you're going to Vietnam and then returning to Thailand you've got nowt to worry about as you'll get another 30 days on entry. If you really wanted to play it safe then just get a single entry tourist Visa from your local Thai Consulate/Embassy and then you'll be good for 60 days on entry (with the option to extend by 30 days) although you don't really need to go to this much trouble as you should be fine anyways. |

Thank You - Sorry to hear you have no joy with the hols ! I guess that is a benefit to working in China - I have nearly two months off !!My memories of chang beer are hazy and of nasty nasty hangovers - what comes up must come down!!If you are knocking around koh pangan (probably spelt wrong) for full moon in January then a Chang is on me my friend. My thirtieth birthday and only one good friend from England to celebrate with !! I'm Sure I will meet lots of interesting sorts in Thailand though!! |

If you are still out there - or anyone who may know-
I asked my friend the same question about my visa - he replied -
You do get an automatic visa for 30 days on arriving but since your return
ticket to China is greater than 30 days this may present a problem unless
you can prove you will be leaving Thailand within 30 days by presenting a
flight ticket to another country.
I am getting a visa just in case.
Is he being over cautious? - I have a feeling applying for a visa in China could be problematic. I am going to see if I can get one anyways . |

Basically you won't have a problem (generally) with Immigration this end IME and IMHO! But you might have a problem with the carrier letting you on.
It might be best to play it safe though, I know many people that have got Thai Visas from China, shouldn't be a big problem for you.
All the best though! |

Cheers again Kenkannif.
I have decided just to change my ticket now to return within 30 days and then change it again with air china when in Thailand to return later.I have to travel a bit in China to get a visa and feel this will be too much stress. All the best. |
