What's the score with the heavy duty beers on offer? Your's truly is no stranger to copious amounts of alchohol but I can't handle more than half a dozen of those muthas before the old legs give way. Anybody have the same problem? |

yeah they are both pretty strong-its what homeless people would drink if we had them in the uk. Notice how all the new heineken bud etc all taste exactly the same as efes or tuborg? |

Aye. Born and bred. I hate special brew and the purple tin, though. I got a load of blue label a couple of days ago when I was in Dubai and I'm still trying to demolish it. Help needed. Aye right!! |

Both of the forementioned strong beers are the equivalent of cheap malt liquor 40s in the US. They taste like Turkish beer with some Tekel vodka or grain alcohol poured in, which can lead to quite a nasty hangover.
I don't like any Turkish made beers I've tried because of the amount of preservatives and impurities which give them a bad taste. Never try cooking with Turkish beer as you can do with a Guinness; the preservatives become the dominant flavor and destry the whole dish.
When I'm out drinking beer I make sure it's a bar with the Efes regular as it's the best of what's available. |

Isn't it a bit weird that you can't get Guiness in Turkey(usually). In Qatar, which is Wahabi Islam- the same as Saudi, all the top hotels serve ice cold Guiness on tap.when the temperature is above 50 degrees it's just what the doctor ordered( or should that be just what I ordered) We should start an 'introduce Guiness to Turkey campaign' we should start with the James Joyce. I mean really... An Irish pub that doesn't sell black gold. Does anyone know if there is another Irish pub in the world that doesn't sell Guiness or Caffrey's? |

How would you lot afford guiness on your salaries?
Real expats and tourists of course could afford it but teffulers earning less than minimum wage-no chance |

Teflers earning minimum wage. I don't think so. Minimum wage in Turkey is 400 million a month. Is anyone really working for that? (If you are pm me and I can give you 5 hours a week for the same money) Anyway back to Guiness, in Qatar I was paying 33 QR a pint-about 6 pounds(sterling). Needless to say I didn't save as much as I planned. |

They do sell Guiness in The James Joyce, in stubby cans for 20 million. And all the bar staff are rude.
Anyway, I WANT CIDER |

Efes Dark makes a lovely, yummy Irish stew I recently discovered. Not quite Guinness but it'll pass for now. |

WOAH the Irish stew sounds great. You can also do a good steak and ale pie with efes dark. I could do with a pint of cafferys meself, or a beamish red. mmmmm But mostly I miss good ole warm pints of proper cask bitter. |
