Hola!

I have an idea, and wonder if this product may be under development in the future.

I am living in China now. From time to time, I want to message my wife, who is Chinese. Her speaking skills are OK, but she cannot really read English too well. I discovered a website called MDBG (Google this) and it takes me to a wonderful Chinese dictionary complete with traditional or simplified characters, with pinyin. Now I can translate and talk to her about anything, mostly mundane matters.

How difficult would it be to develop pocket PCs with a program that translates what you type and speaks the translation. Should not be too hard to develop such a contraption. Instead of going through hours on end with boring, difficult language lessons, design this device, and two people who do not speak the same tounge can easily transverse with each other. Just use the keyboard and hit enter.

A "program disc" can be as small as a Nintendo GameBoy cartridge. Going to a third country, no problem, buy the disc and download it to the translator and there you go. If you have a English/Chinese translator and want to add French, now you can translate Chinese into French, into English. No problem, you get the idea.

How come they have not invented this?

Senor
