You should be able to purchase traveler's insurance relatively cheaply. If you booked your flight through a travel agency, go back to them and ask about traveler's health insurance.
I've never purchased it myself, but I've been told by a number of people who have bought it that it's a cheap investment. |

Hi Chi Town:
The only problem with travel insurance is almost all of them offer no coverage while in your home country. This is especially true for the USA due to the high cost of medical treatment there. I'm an American and when I go home I always purchase insurance from STA travel. They are a reputable company and are the only place I have found that offers insurance for an American traveling in America. Their site is http://www.statravel.com. Choose the American site and you should find insurance along the top set of tabs on their home page. It's only $100,000 of coverage, but it is better than taking your chances.
