Hello all,

A friend and I recently graduated with degrees in English Lit , and we're hoping to travel Mexico more extensively than we have in the past and maybe teach a little English along the way.

We both have teaching experience in the classroom, and have been to the Puerto Vallarta region a couple of times on vacay, but it never seems long enough, so we're itchin to go back.

We're hopefully looking to set up a little north of Vallarta in Bucerias, but most of the accomodation websites/listings we have thus far come across pertain to luxury vacation rentals...which are a little out of our price range . I've found a couple of websites, but they're not great.

If there is anyone out there in the land of the forum who knows of a rental website or perhaps even an individual who is game to rent furnished for a few months in early 2005, I'd really appreciate your input.

It's hard to get things done from here. I have some friends in Bucerias scouting out rental apartments for us as well, but the more info we have going down, the better.

As a side note....I worked a tragically hip concert last night in Calgary....for all you Canucks out there (and hip fans in general), I've never seem them in better form. Long live the Hip .

Thanks for the advice. The closer we get to leaving the more practical that sounds. I'm leary of renting something from here anyways. I'd definitely like to see the place before I take possession of it.

Any personal experience with accomodations in the area? Hostelling is definitely an option.

Yah man the Hip rule! I saw them in a small club way back, they tore the roof offa the joint.
I'd say they're almost as good as the Rheostatics...

If you PM me, I can help you locate a cheaper place to rent in and around PV...out of the way of tourism. It's easier than most people think.

This is the online version of the classifieds in Puerto Vallarta called "mano a mano" If your spanish is good then you should be able to read it no problem, but they also have ad's in english. I've seen quite a few cheap, furnished rentals advertised there.

Also, you may want to check out this website:

www.allvallarta.com and go to the message board. This board is full of people who currently live in Puerto Vallarta or travel there constantly. So they are full of advice about the best areas to live in, best places to eat, places to stay away from, etc. Seriously, a wealth of information to be found.

Edited to say on the website there are also people who often post about cheap apartments that are available for long term rentals so it's worthwhile checking out. They will usually send you pictures as well if you request them.
