I'm 48 now. Somewhere I've read that with 50 one can get a kind of permanent resident's visa for Thailand, provided that laws won't change until then. It also requires a certain amount of money in a Thai bank - how much?
Does anyone know or perhaps even live in Thailand on such visa?
Would that allow you to teach as well? |

You're on about this: http://www.thaivisa.com/318.0.html
Although quite often it's easier to use a Non-imm O in the same manner!
You need 800,000 a year or 65,000 a month coming in (or a combination of the two!) to extend it year after year (although you'll probably be able to get a multiple entry from a friendly Consulate without showing any money). Otherwise you'll have to exit and re-enter every 90 days.
It's not a premenant residents Visa, that's a PR Visa and you need to be on the same extended Visa for three straight years before you can even think to apply!
And no as it's a retirement Visa, you can kind of conclude work is not allowed. Although it be quite easy to change to the Visa you need to obtain a WP on! |
