|
|
I am curently teaching at Memphis International in Cairo a high school level - grades 10 and 12. I have previous experience from an institute in Morocco and also Child Care experience from America. I do not have a college degree and my TEFL Certificate is fom ICAL, a known distance learning TEFL Certifier.
Can my experience get me into a position in Saudi Arabia? If so, how much could I possible expect to make and at what type of schools should I apply? Mostly all that I see indicates a TEFL College degree requirement - do they waive that for people like me and just give a pay cut? Or are there other schools?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

To be blunt, if you don't have a degree and your TEFL Cert is via distance, I would say your chances of getting any remotely serious EFL work in the Kingdom are virtually zero.
Most of the good jobs require not only a Bachelor's degree, but a Master's too, as well as relevant EFL experience. There are plenty of not so great jobs around too, but even they will require a Bachelor's degree at the very least.
It's been said before on this board and I will say it again, hoping it does not sound patronising: The Gulf is not the place for unqualified teachers. |
