My turn now to ask a question:
What is a 'PDG'?

All I know is that is must be some electronic or electrical appliance, probably one that works as a music and/or video play machine.

I have to write a French translation for some "manual" that comes with it but no one has told me what kind of machine it is, and there are no pictures either!

'Pizza Delivery Guy'
or, more likely,
'Programmable Display Generator'

Next time try www.acronymfinder.com

I've got a feeling you've missed the boat here. I think you mean a PDA (personal digital assistant)

By the way, in Google type
define: [word you want]
to get dictionary definitions for whatever.

define: pdg brings up absolutely no results which makes me smell a rat

The acronym finder brings up fourteen separate possibilities, including the two I mentioned, and the other two mentioned.

Public display of generosity.

That's when a guy takes his girlfriend out and buys her some spendy flowers in front of many other girls that he's actually more in to than his own girlfriend. The other girls are like, wow that guy is so generous, and they begin to fancy him a bit. Then he loses girlfriend number 1 who he just found so he could pull a PDG and win the hearts of the girls who he he is really burning for rather than wasting his time with girlfriend #1. What a *beep*!!!

I think it's actually portable document generator, because PDF files are portable document format. That seems keeping within the parameters you listed at the beginning
