Has anyone heard about The Merry House ETC school in Shizuoka ? I couldnt find much information on it, and was wondering if it actually exists, or if it is in fact a scam! I read that the scam artists ESL Asia recruited for them before, so I dont know if they are a bad apple too! Has anyone worked there before? Thanks for all replies! |

Dear James, I asked this same question a year or so back when I got offered a job with them. Got no replies, so can`t help you there.
All I do know is they sent me a one page contract that contained nothing of any substance, and when I emailed them back asked a number of questions regarding the job, I received no response. After a couple more requests for information I emailed them withdrawing my application.
Not saying they`re a scam or anything, just be very careful. I now work in a tiny school in Nagano called Luna which I got because my friend was recruited over the net by their parent school in Matsumoto. I remember she was scared about it being a scam but its worked out fine for both of us, its just a long way to go if you get it wrong.
Feel free to email me if you want any more advice

From cornishmuppet's account, if it isn't a scam it's a sketchy operation. I wouldn't expect the best work environment with them
Here is something to keep in mind: If they don't respond to your inquiries like a normal business would, they are probably rubbish. There is a level of business etiquette that companies should adhere to, and it sounds as if Merry House is completely disregarding all etiquette. |
