hey everyone!

i'll be off to Chongqing next month to start my first teaching job, and i was just wondering if anyone knew anything about the gyms or in general, the "fitness lifestye" in China?

I am very much into working out and at the very least, i would like to attempt to maintain some sort of fitness level while i'm overseas. anyone know what gym memberships are like in China? or what kind of gym standards they have?

also, is protein powder available?

i don't know if these are stupid questions... but here's another: is there a market for group fitness over there? i am a certified fitness instructor and thought it would be neat to be able to teach fitness classes while i was overseas! what do you guys think??

thanks Smile

Try this link to a recent thread http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/job/viewtopic.php?t=17434 and check the China Off Topic forum for more info and perhaps place your question there as it's not really a job related question.

chongqing's air was once the worst in china, and might still be up there. my little city also has torrid air and so i justify my lack of cardio workouts to the fact that it's probably healthier to not breath heavily than to do the exercise. you might understand when you get here, or not. i do some resistance work but don't huff and puff often.
