|
|
Alright, I know its last minute, but i'm currently teaching in Seoul and have decided that I would like to spend my holiday in beautiful Vietnam. My Winter break last from December 25 to January 2 so I figure I will have about 8 days to do so.
I've just started doing the research and will be buying a Loney Planet this weekend, however, I was hoping that I could recieve some tips from some of the expats living over there.
Basically I want to spend the majority of my time chilling on a beach. I'm looking at flying to Ho Chi Minh and then taking the 12 hour bus ride to Nha Trang.
However, I would prefer to fly to Hanoi and take the much shorter communte to Halong Bay. Unfortunatly, i've heard that the weather in the north isn't to good this time of year so I might have to re-think that option.
Also, i'm a Canadian citizen and I will be travelling with my buddie who is an American one and I was just wondering if there will be any difficulities on either side as a result.
Lastly, i've gone almost 3 months since arriving in Seoul without some Mary Jane and I was also wondering if Nam is a safe place to re-unite with my darling?
Thanks in advance for any advice that I might recieve. |

If you want a good beach, give Nha Trang a miss (unless you're staying in one of the pricey 5* resorts the beach is crowded & full of hawkers) & head for Mui Ne instead - 4hr bus ride north of HCMC, loads of good, cheap accommodation, & plenty of bars (though the nightlife's a bit on the quiet side). Or fly up to Da Nang & stay in Hoi An - the most beautiful town in Vietnam, decent nightlife, and a cracking beach 10 mins out of town.
As for Mary Jane, she's fairly easy to find in Saigon, just hang around on Pham Ngu Lao after dark. |
