Greetings,

Does anyone work in International schools in Taiwan who could tell me approximately how much NT they pay monthly? I am curious as to how much International schools pay compared to "Bushibans." I realize you need to be qualified to work in International schools as to why I am curious about pay/benefits etc..

Any other advice on working in International schools in Taiwan would be greatly appreciated.

The Taipei American School pays between 100,000nt to 300,000nt per month, depending on your qualifications, where you were hired from and seniority. They are one of the best paying international schools in the world.
Other international schools in Taiwan pay considerably less, more comparable to a good bushi ban's pay.

EOD: Thanks for the insight. Do you know if they hire often? I was checking out the website but, I still don't know if they you have much if any turnover. Do you know if it would be better to apply over here or once in Taiwan?

They do hire locally. The pay and benefits are considerably less than foreign hires.
If you’ re a certified teacher and want the real money you have to do the work. Go to job fairs and most importantly make personal contacts

From having friends who work at TAS, I know the following is true: it is hard to get a job there, ie. 2000 interviews for 6 potential positions, minimum 2 years experience at international school as a teacher. You need to be very qualified with tons of experience and recommendations. They do pay well but I think that it's not too easy to get a foot in the door. Most teachers have been there for years and have no intention of leaving. I have heard that other schools are easier to get a position at. I think you should start at another school if you are interested and then try to apply there after you have some experience at the international school level.

Good luck with all your job hunting!

Wix: Thanks for the useful list of Int. schools Smile

CanadianGirl: Good advice. I'll take that into consideration about TAS.

Cheers
