Would love to hear from anyone who has taught at Shenzhen Oriental English College. Good or bad experience?

Hello,
I lived in Shenzhen for three years, and I once applied for a position at a college named like the school you mentioned. It was located in Bao'an, which is a township northwest of Shenzhen proper, next to the airport.
I did not get the job then, and I had a very unpleasant impression of those at the helm of that school. To say they were "shifty" would probably hit the nail on the head.
But then again, this was more than 5 years ago.
Maybe yours is another school.

Hi!
Is the school connected With Guangzhou Oriental College?
If so i know the boss who owns the GZ school. It is a privat eschool in the huge park at the mountain. Nice location.
The boss is "Tiger". School in GZ a little dodgy but Tiger never cheated anyone. He's fairly hip and somewhat pleasant. Nice students, nice environment

Well, I'm in Shenzhen, but I've never heard of it. How old is it supposed to be? I HAVE had a lot of students who've studied at the Oriental English College in Guangzhou. These students were from Shenzhen, so if they'd rather go to Guangzhou to study than stay close to home, maybe the SZ Oriental English College is no good. Or, this could be its first year of operation. What else do you know about it?

Kurochan..
Best way is you phone "Tiger" and get some answers.
He' easy to talk to. Phone call is cheap in China.
Ask him to send you a brochure.
Make it sound like you are interested in teaching at his school and he will be very helpful. Wink
..
I'll try to dig up his phone number.
I got a brochure around here somewhere.
Get back to you in a bit.
..
If you get some answers at least PM me.
I'd like to know as well.

Some confusion here, careful!

The GUANGZHOU ORIENTAL COLLEGE is a private training centre - according to a girl that was sitting beside me in our estate bus some time ago! She paid for private ENglish lessons there. It was NOT a college!

The SHENZHEN ORIENTAL COLLEGE therefore has NO affiliation with the Guangzhou outfit. IF it is the one near the airport that I had visited several years ago, it was founded around 1996 or '95. It was a regular school, possibly a college, and they were going to open a training centre with a tanslation section there!

As for the name "ORIENTAL":
Many private schools use - or abuse, as the case may be! - this epithet! There was, and proobably still is, a Beijing New Oriental School, which made headlines some three years ago by infringing on copyrights of TOEFL exam papers that had been put at their disposal by an American partner. How that case was eventually resolved legally I don't know, but it was widely reported at that time, including by print media inside and outside of China.
If they have anything to do with either the Shenzhen college or the Guangzhou institute I would stay away from them!

I worked for a while for Tiger Hua,when Oriental was located elswhere.
His schedule for me worked out that I took the first class, then would spend lots of hours teaching free English while hanging round as there was no place for me to go.My day finished at 9 in the evening for a total of 3 or 4 hours work
As the school was in a run down hotel there were plenty of empty rooms and I made a deal with the manager; for 50 RMB I cpuld use a room, the shower and sleep during the free periods.
This was not pleasing to Tiger, so I was replaced with a desperate youngster, just 20 years or so who was happy with the pittance offered plus board.
In all fairness i cannot blame Tiger too much, he is in business and he is not really all that bad, he's just very good at cutting overheads; shaving off a few RMB all the time
