|
|
Does anybody have any good ideas for the 'end of term class' for an Oral Business English university class? We will have completed the exam and I'd like to do something interesting but fun. There are about 40 students and the desks are bolted to the floor so the classroom is not all that adaptable. The level of English is mostly intermediate.
I have a few ideas to work on but if any of you have some successful activities I'd appreciate hearing them. |

Does it have to be business-oriented? |

ok, play the hangman on the board. there' s no need to draw the hangman, just get them to say letters.
use business terms.
you give them the clue.
chinese students enjoy playing the hangman.
e.g. revenues :
clue: money that a company receives over a period of time , specially from selling goods or services.
they' ll like it. other terms: depreciation, deflation, etc.
good luck, gabriel.
ps. if you need another idea PM and write your email address, I' ll send you a 1 page sample (ms word file) of another interesting fill that I use in my class. |

I played grammar auction.
I'd done that one before, and since they really liked it it's nice to do it one last time. I also took all of the classes out for a night of KTV, and I wish I'd done that more often. Was excellent.
The 'Crazy debate' might work.
Check out a weblog I put together. Nothing special, but there're some ideas there I've collected over the time.

You could also try the activities I put under 'English corner activities'.
Good luck,

The "rumour game" never fails to entertain:
Line up 3 or 4 of the kids and space them apart; now whisper a phrase, for example "a green German" into the first person's ears; the phrase must then be whispered again and again until it reaches the last person who says it aloud.
The outcome seldom fails to be hilarious; "a green German" may turn into a "grinning germ".
Just take good care in getting each and every participant to tell you what they heard individually BEFORE the last person says it ALOUD... then put all those versions on the blackboard.
Vary the phrases to include wrong information such as "4 times 6 is 46!... |

I usually teach them the words they should NOT use. They hear obscenity in movies and on the street. They need to know which words are not acceptable in all company.
Since I find many of these words objectional in a classroom, I save them for the last class when the students will not be seeing me again for some time, if ever. |
