Hello,
What's the best way to get your last pay cheque from NOVA? I've heard you shouldn't get them to deposit it into your bank account in your home country because they'll mess it up. I can't get anyone to send it to me, what should I do? Does anyone know if the international ATM card would do the job? It would be a nightmare if the card didn't work and I couldn't access the money from my home country for some reason. Sorry if this questions has been addressed elsewhere! Thanks so much! |

You should also consider that if they send it to your home country, in addition to their wire fees, they will tax it at 20% and not the 5 or 6% that you have likely been used to since you will no longer be considered a resident of Japan.
What is your time frame? I have an international card with UFJ and have used it many times with no problems when not in Japan. Keep in mind it takes a week or so to get it and costs about 1100 yen. In my opinion it does the job just fine. If you have time, get it, send it home, and have a family member do a test run just to be sure.
Your choices are really limited:
1- Nova wires it for you, direct to your home bank.
2- Nova desposits it like usual and you figure a way to get it out, which is either via a trustworthy friend or an international ATM.
May not be the best, but that's it as far as I know.

By law they have to pay you on your last day. Just go to the Labour board in your area! |
