Sunpower, could you tell us a few more details about the book? Who is the author and where can you buy it? It sounds interesting.

Yeah, the book was written by William Combs in 1990.

I found it while browsing the EFL/Linguistics shelves at the NTU library last week.

It looks like it would still be useful for those new to teaching and Taiwan but a bit dated.

I don't see many books like this aimed at the EFL'er, so I signed it out and am going through it.

The main sections are:

Section 1 - The Big Picture (info on the business, kinds of teaching jobs)
Section 2 - So You Want To Be A Teacher (teaching tips, contracts, texts)
Section 3 - Finding Work The Easy Way (Interview Tips, regions in Taiwan)
Section 4 - Living and Coping (Housing, Taxes, Visas, Banks, Hassles)
Section 5 - Finding Work The Hard Way (Shotgun Approach, chinese ads)

I'll be finished with it in a week or two and will drop it off at NTU then.
